The only creatures not able to speak

The humans can speak.

The animals can speak.

But dolphins can't? Why not? What are we supposed to think the dolphins are?

Of course I would agree that dolphins are not animals -or- humans - they are something higher and gentler. But this movie treats them like they are animals TO the animals - meaning, below animals, sub-animals or something.

Or is there another explanation?

Dolphins are carnivores, one species of Dolphin is the Killer whale. Their closest relatives ate whales & hippos.

Although dolphins may have pushed dolphins back to shore, there is no evidence they do not push people further out to sea, the people then drowning & not being to talk about it. Dolphins & sharks have a similar diet.

Flipper was a work of fiction. Dolphins are known to attack each other.

How does that answer the OP's question?

They do speak...they say "eee eee eee eee"! That's always more entertaining to children than boring old English.

reply

They really didn't have enough screen time to have it matter if they spoke or not.
