Julia Campbell (first Ellen) and the original John Rimbauer

They should have used Julia Campbell from the mini-series and the man who played John as well.

She was really *beep* creepy as Zombie/Ghost/Vampire Ellen in Rose Red. Even the return of Tsidii Leloka as Sukeena doesn't balance out the inconsistencies!

The fact that Madame Stravinski doesn't appear and how Madame Lu speaks better English and is kind and sweet and not as overweight as in the book speaks volumes.

As well, as April disappearing in the parlour, when it was supposed to be the kitchen, like in the last 2 versions of Rose Red.

I agree...one of the problems I had with this film was the changing of the actors that play Ellen and John also. I sort of understand why the filmakers did that. I think they were trying to show the Rimbuers when they were young. If you look at Rose Red, the actors playing the Rimbuers were older. Why they made them older is a mystery when they could have taken younger actors and made them older. I also found Madame Lu more mysterious than Stravinski. She also helps me to understand why April disappeared. Remember what she said...when Ellen loves someone very deeply, Rose Red gets jealous and she takes them away.

I doubt it, because when Ellen and John first see the house in the movie Rose Red, Ellen is supposed to be 20, yet, she looks exactly the same as she does in most other parts of the movie (well, besides when she's a vampire, and right before she goes missing). So technically, she was young from the very beginning of Rose Red, so I don't think it was the director's intention to try to make the Rimbeurs look younger for this movie.

It doesn't seem like the house only takes people that Ellen cares about. The first women to go missing were ones that John was having an affair with. I doubt that Ellen was very fond of them. Except perhaps the maids since I doubt they had very much choice. But definitely the other chick.

I think the house takes April to prevent Ellen from ever leaving, not because Rose Red was jealous.
