Who killed the gardener?

was it the same person that the hall of records lady killed? if so then who that was one big plothole.

reply

What about the french guy? who killed him?

reply

Johnny killed the gardener, and anyone Johnny might have killed on his walk to town could have attacked the records lady. As for Chef Henri, the "French guy," the Drifter explains that Mr. Wise had to kill him because he "probably" opened the box.

reply

Um... didn't the hall of records lady survive?

reply

ChainsawQuartet: "Um... didn't the hall of records lady survive?"

Yes, she obviously survived, but that does not mean she was not attacked.

reply

If so thats a very lame excuse... if Henri did open the box

1- why would he suddenly open it (he has stayed at the b&b for some time now so must have an idea what it is, and he never got possessed so I dont think he could open it)

2- Mr Wise was killed upstairs (or died of natural causes) but either way its implausible he went down killed Henri (who he knows) and then went upstairs to die

reply

yeah, this movie is so unrealistic.

1) We don't know why, but from the size of the town, it's unlikely there were any visitors to the B&B. Considering Henri did not like the kids staying there, and he knew the box was important to Mr. Wise, I don't find it hard to believe that he'd try and move it somewhere else, so the kids wouldn't screw with it. We saw how easy it was to open when Johnny bumped the table, so I figure it opened that easily with Henri, too.

2) He didn't go down and kill Henri then go upstairs to die; chances are he killed Henri downstairs, then took whatever part of him back upstairs to the box, then had a heart attack from the exertion and/or stress and never got back downstairs to clean up after it.
