my concern

Anyone else concerned about the rapid decline of hip hop. It used to have a message and purpose now its just for show. I don't know about you but i can't relate to diamonds, mansions and bentleys. Please feel free to comment

"I don't know about you but i can't relate to diamonds, mansions and bentleys."

If you don't like that kind of thing, just listen to rappers like Mos def, Twlib Kweli, Common, or Lupe Fiasco-they're lyrics actually speak for something, they don't talk about bling and hoes and whatnot.

I don't think it's that serious. People argue more over whether hip-hop is dead more than the presidential elections. You know, something that really effects us.

One thing about the hip-hop now, it's bringing people together, dancing, having fun, instead of east coast vs. west coast and etc. That's the beautiful thing about it. I think if more people would stop frustrating themselves, shut up , pop, lock, and drop it, the world would be a much better place.

Good topic..I'm going to share my opinion. First off, I like rap and I have to agree the rap today isn't what it used to be back during the late 80's and through the 90's nowadays it is about bling, bling and dance move rap. I agree that both the old type of rap is good and some of the music out today is good, but I like the old type of rap myself. I know I like rappers that have something to talk about and is being real and the only ones I see doing that today is Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Nas, 50 cent used to now he is starting to dissappoint me.

"Something that really effects us." Hip-Hop... music in general really does effect us. It's part of our culture. Think about it. The second part of your post really spells it out.
