Something I noticed.

First let me say that I loved this movie. The characters were beautifully developed and the story was wonderfully told. One thing I love about foreign movies as compared to U.S. movies, is that the actors are superb actors. Not pretty people who act well in most cases.

I loved the ending when the ladies came to help her get her belongings. I like how no words were spoken to the husband. The silence spoke volumes. Another thing I loved is how you eventually develop sympathy for the husband. He was more than a wild, uncontrolable, raging idiot. Through his talks in therapy and the exert from his notebook that Pilar read, you found out that he does have a gentle soul. I only wish that he could have gained control of himself sooner and saved the relationship between himself and his family.

On a personal note though, she could have just let him kill himself and collect on the insurance rather than take him to the hospital. Oh well.

Now on to my observation. I noticed that the wedding bands were worn on the RIGHT hand. Can anyone explain to me why this was? Thanks in advance.

In Spain wedding bands are worn on the right hand and not the left. I think it's the same in some Latin American countries too.

Hi, I'm Spanish & I wear my wedding band on the left hand. So does the rest of my family, but I don't know why. To me it's just more comfortable to be honest, as I'm right handed.

My wife and I were married in Germany in 1959 and have since that time worn our wedding rings on our right ring fingers. As a sidenote: In the eastern parts of the then Germany (today Poland and West Prussia) it was the custem that the wedding rings were purchased at the time of the official engagement and then worn on the LEFT hand until the wedding day when they were put on the RIGHT hand at the church wedding ceremony.

Yep same thing in Korea. It seems like the U.S. is backwards with EVERYTHING they do, not just the way they measure in gallons and miles...

In the UK, most people wear their wedding bands on the left hand.

Actually, the movie takes place in Toledo, a town of about 60,000 people an hour south of Madrid.
