The party at her apartment....

I just watched this movie for the first time last night.. and the one thing I couldn't ever over was...

The attitude of the teenagers! Now, I'm in my early 20's.. so I'm not too far from my own teen 'tude.. but COME ON. When Helen was trying to kick them out of her apartment.. BZ was all like, "Hey Mama.. we're almost done". Yeah, no. I would have been like, "Get the hell out of my apartment.. NOW" I would never let someone younger than me talk to me that way. EVER. I realize BZ portrayed a troubled teen or whatever, but Helen seriously needed to stand up for herself and her property - kind of like the other sister did when she barged in the hotel room.

I don't know. It just bugged me. I kept thinking, "Oh come on Helen.. kick the little bastards and skanks out."

Well, Helen is young, too. She's not as old as Jenny, and she partys and drinks just like the kids were doing, so she thought it was perfectly okay, but still, she got some help from Jenny, because she KNEW it was the wrong thing to do, letting them party in her apartment.
So... Does that answer ur question?

OK, yeah, I can understand Helen wanting to look "cool" and "hip" and letting them party.

But like I said, it was mostly BZ's attitude that bothered me. The way he flat out disrespected her when she told them to leave (because she "said so".. haha). It's like, who the heck does that little brat think he is?

I don't know. Maybe it's just because I'm from a smaller town, completely opposite of NYC, that I'm not familiar with being so disrespectful when someone tells you to do something.

Well I guess basically that's kinda the whole point of the movie...standing up for herself with regards to the kids behaviour and being the "bad guy" isn't something that Helen can do. She feels so hypocritical and doesn't want them to hate her. She's still in "Cool Aunt Helen" mode and doesn't know how to become the one that they shout 'I hate you' and slam doors at.

All that aside though, BZ was a little ****! Brought a nice little smile to my face when Jenny went for him in the motel room and he was reduced to a quivering little boy whispering 'Sorry ma'am'. MUAHAHAHAHAH!!!

I have the perfect answer for you, clu les. Audrey had just lost her parents and was quite messed up and trying to fill a void that they had left. When everyone else around you is mourning for the same person, you can't find any sort of comfort from them, so you turn to the first person who pays any attention to you. It just so happened that the person in the movie was BZ, a total punk and brat. Audrey was lucky that this was a movie and everything could be solved in time for the closing credits, but sometimes people stay messed up amd emotionally lost for years.

I was quite annoyed by that scene as well. Helen was a high powered assistant in the fashion world who probably wouldn't be in that position if she didn't have a backbone. She had a way of getting into any nighclub or restaurant she wanted. I was surprised at how wishy washy she was when asking the kids to end the party...what happened to her backbone? It seemed to me that she had two different personalities, and it confused me.

At this point in the story, Helen was still trying to be the "cool Auntie" instead of the parental authority figure she needed to be. At this point, she was more concerned with Audrey not being mad at her.

The kids were just having fun.Helen shouldn't have ruined it like that.She especially shouldn't have called in that crazy woman from next door-bullying bitch!BZ should have told Mommy Jenny something like that-What's the matter-jealous?OK-I'll screw you next if you like! My view on bringing up children?Only rules-no bullying or cruelty to animals.Otherwise-you don't bug me,I won't bug you.
