reply

i can't believe black flag didn't make a single persons top ten punk bands. you people sicken me

reply

BLACK FLAG are hardcore band, not punk.

reply

Ok, a lot people might be ruffling their mohawks over this but I don't think that Black Flag was "hardcore", Ya, they've got that legacy of starting the whole Hardcore punk thing, and everytime you think hardcore you think Black Flag. So I went out and bought 'Damaged', and it just sounded like punk-ya it was very fast and had a very raw edge to it, but not like say, oh, Bridge 9 Records for example. Anyone else agree with me or am I just crazy?

reply

Things evolve over time. But that sound, Black Flag, DOA, etc, is the definition of Hardcore. The phrase was coined for them and they gave it meaning and whatever people inspired by it decades later create can't invalidate it's legitmacy.

I'm sorry, but for me, that seems unfair to Green Day.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more Bad Religion.

MC5 (crazy that no one's mentioned them)
Flogging Molly
Dead Kennedys
Minor Threat
Black Flag
Rancid
Crass

That seems more unfair for the offspring. So their last 2 albums lacked....Doesn't mean me shouldn't give them a lot of *beep* credit. The Offspring is one of the most underrated bands ever.

Seeing your list it's very logic that the Ramones is the absolute number one. :-) Because all (? I don't know Groovie Ghoulies, Retarded and Spazzys) other are highly influenced by the Ramones.

PS: I have a curious question: Do you also listen to other kind of punkbands? :-)
