Did Herb Brooks violently smack gum all the time
If not, why was he portrayed as a maniacal gum smacker in the film? It was quite annoying to watch. Worse than ol' whats his name in Midnight Cowboy.
shareI know I'm a little late to the posting here, but while watching the movie, and given the times (1980), I was thinking either he was a smoker (who obviously couldn't smoke during the games) OR he was trying to quit. In the years before patches, pills, and nicotine gum, people did whatever they could to satisfy their urge for a cigarette. As an ex-smoker myself, that is just one explanation.
