If you ever get the chance to see this, do!

(possible spoilers)
My mum put this on one evening, and as I didn't have anything else to do at the time, I grudgingly watched it, preparing myself to be very bored. How wrong I was! I'm not usually that emotional, but the scene where Johnny gives his trumpet recital to ihs parents, and they are proud of him for the first time, I cried!
So, to anyone who judges this before they've seen it, don't! I was hooked for every minute of this drama, and I challenge you not to get choked up at the end.

There are only 3 things in this life that are certain:-
Death, taxes, and things getting worse!

I know what you mean. I almost cried at that part, too.I really liked the film, but I was mostly watching it because of Rollo (the boy who plays Prince George).
But don't get me wrong, the film was great too:)

Georgie was superb, i agree.
I thought it was one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen, and i cried buckets too.
Miranda Richardson made me weep-her face was heartbreaking-all that emotion rippling at the surface, but never quite coming out.

I agree. I lothe these programmes usually but I have now watched it both times it was on BBC and I really like it. My sister also cried at that point but I just ended up hating his parents for being such crap parents. I know about the historical context and all that stuff and that it is only a dramatisation but the father was such a w****r to him. Particularly when they are playing with the toy soldiers and the grandfather and father come in!
