lost prince v. king's speech

im surprised the later is getting so much attention these days, while the former, which is equally good if not better, slipped under the radar (though it did get some love at the emmy's).

george V had some issues with his kids. royal inbreeding?

I agree I think The Lost Prince was superior to The Kings Speech, I was really disappointed with the latter though I think I'm the only person in the planet that feels that way.

I think both were wonderful but so very different. The King's Speech is about eventual triumph but this story is really at it's heart a story of family. Which is not triumphant but melancholy, in my opinion.

As for response, this is about George and John, the 2 youngest children who people in general are not that interested in and know little about. Even on here people are confusing Bertie with George! But there are few "household names" in this movie either. Richardson and Nighy the most well known. The acting in both movies are spectacular with true standouts. But you don't leave this film feeling uplifted and that might have made the difference. But it may come down to studio's promotion budget. The one with the most money will certainly be the one watched. I find both excellent and truly noncomparable even within the same family.

Miramax distributed The King’s Speech in the US. The Weinsteins spent a fortune on Oscar publicity, as always.

That said, imo The King’s Speech is the better film and more deserving of accolades.
