Did Grampa Collins kill himself

One of the user reviews posted on imdb mentions that Grampa Collins killed himself. Both my wife and I do not recall anything in the movie that suggested this.

Did we miss something? Where in the movie did the say, or imply, that grampa killed himself?

I didn't see any mention of Grandpa trying to kill himself. I thought he had the best way of dealing with his family - from a distance. Maybe the person was making a reference to the grandmother.

I didn't on first viewing, either. On subsequent viewings, though, it seemed pretty clear to me that he had.

For one, there was Alice going on (both in the car & after arriving) about how inconsiderate it was. There was also Katie's eulogy remarks about him not leaving them because he didn't love them (although, of course, she is actually reading Jesse's note to her). Plus, the way the attorney acted, the way Edmond talked (and how well he looked) on the video.

There were a couple of other little tell-tale remarks that characters made. I haven't seen it in a couple of months, so I can't pull any more off the top of my head. After about three viewings, though, I had become convinced that he DID kill himself -- after finally running out of money & realizing he could no longer carry on his triple life.

I just thought he had prostate cancer! he said something in his video like "I am up to my prostate in debts" figured he meant prostate cancer and debts = bad. Or jsut that he is up to his a** and a little further in debts

I don't know about Grandpa Collins but I felt like killing myself after watching this thing to the bitter, unfunny end.
