Just got the DVD box set for a steal. Is this worth watching?

I am planning on watching the whole thing this coming weekend. I didn't know about the show, so have been reading up on it and the reviews seem mostly positive. I also read that it got cut short, however there is a movie being made to tie up loose ends. That being said, is it a worthwhile watch?
