Couldnt the ghost have done it all without Miranda? Why use her??

the ghost couldve rescued the girl by herself right?? but i guess the film would be far less entertaining.......

Or better yet, use her father as a medium. He would have made a far better listener because he would have used his emotional instincts rather than the psycho babble sh!te that Miranda was used to spewing. And what little girl wouldn't "run to her daddy?"..

"I have nipples, Greg. Could you milk me?"

Very true. I am a big believer in the spirit world so I just dont get it. Why use a total stranger? That ghost put poor Miranda thru HELL. I would be so damaged from that experience. I bet Miranda wakes up screaming every other night. lol

Because the father said himself that he took (or takes) enough medication to block it out.

Rachel probably possessed Miranda because she had easiest access to Doug. She also had a connection to (Bob?) the sherrif who was the other killer.

I agree with JCangel. Phil Parsons (the dad) admits to Miranda that for years after his daughter died he had a recurring nightmare of Rachel burning in flames. This sounds like Rachel was desperately trying to tell her father she was murdered, but as Phil says, he was so traumatised by these dreams he took medication to make him forget.

I think Rachel must have realised her father wouldn't / couldn't help her and so she turned to Miranda. As Doug's wife, she was the most logical choice. Plus, if Rachel's intention was always to murder both Doug and the Sheriff, its unlikely she would have wanted her father to go down for it. But Rachel does seem to need human help. In order to kill Doug, she has to possess Miranda. And it was Miranda who also killed the Sheriff - Rachel just distracted him.

I was thinking it was the bridge. That was where she was supposed to have committed suicide, right? So until she possessed Miranda, she was stuck at that bridge. And even before her death, it was not a heavily trafficked roadway.

So until Miranda came that way, maybe Rachel had no other connection to the real world after her father medicated the visions away.
