This is an oddity

I'm looking over all the info for this movie, and it's quite surprising. This is the first film the producers have produced, the first film the writers have written, and the first film the director has directed. And speaking of the director, who would have guess that Mr. Nichols could direct!

Is there anyone out there who knows anything about this movie. I guess it's shot on digital. Is it going to festivals? Video? Or is this just a pet project of a small group of people?

I'm confused.

Dear Confused,

I know a little about this movie since I produced, wrote it and starred in it. And yes my brother Thom (Nicholas) can direct even at the ripe age of 23.

Certainly this is not a "Pet Project." For anyone who has ever made a feature film, especially without the aid of unlimited studio budgets, you know the challenges indie projects are faced with. Yes, we are going to festivals. Yes, it will be available on DVD. And with a little persistence, we will make a theatrical appearence.

Yours Truly,

Tim Scarne
Producer

are you really the producer of this movie? I didn't know people like you came to websites like these... that's pretty cool! Why are you guys making and independent film, your brother has been in some biggish movies so why can't you make another big(gish) movie? Can't he get hooked up w/ that kinda thing?

"No, not next period, Right Now! Right Now! I'll take it right now! I'm ready for the test."

I notice you guys shot the film on digital ... do you think it hurts you in terms of festival acceptance and distribution, or do you believe if the film is good, it's just good?

Wow...I mean, I haven't seen this movie yet, but is it really necessary to be so harsh? And you know what, if it isn't some great masterpiece, so what? Do you know how much you learn just by making a movie? Just by financing it on your own? By doing EVERYTHING on your own? It's an invaluable and wonderful experience and I applaud these guys for going out there and having the guts to put a movie together. There is no reason for being so harsh against a couple of guys who decided to go for it. After all, that's how you make it in this business. You gotta take chances. I'm sure something good will come from the making of this film.

Good luck to you guys and I hope you the best. ^^

cptimbo - The maker of the thread meant it as a compliment. At least, that's the way it sounds.

Hi, Everyone,

This is a well made movie. I have a little knowledge about movies and moviemaking. I have seen some really bad and really good movies. Sometimes the bad ones were hits and the good ones flopped.

If you get the DVD of this film, watch for some little moments that will race by real fast if you aren't paying close attention. I don't know of any other movie that has a scene at Canter's Restaurant and Goldfield, Nevada. Canter's is a popular joint in the Fairfax area for the Farmer's Market crowd or the CBS TV City honchos and honchoettes to make a deal over a tuna melt or a Reuben.

Goldfield was once the location of a boxing title fight. It had a high school and 10,000 people living off the local gold diggins. Now there are about 5 people there with lots of buildings and no money. See what you learn? This is an educational film.

This is well made from a photographer's viewpoint or from a storyline viewpoint or from a casting consideration.

One of my favorite parts of the movie was the Black deejay with the English accent who is so soft spoken he sounds like his name should be Bambi. When he gets in front of a crowd he explodes into a screaming 300 pound mouth.

Lots of good stuff here.
