is probably the best actress in Korea right now. Ahead of Lee Young-ae("Jewel in the Palace,") ahead of Jeon Do-yeon("Untold Scandal") and Choi Ji-woo("Winter Sonata,") ahead of Song Hye-kyo("Hotelier.") Of course, it is just my personal opinion. I think he is one of few actresses in Korea who has got both looks and acting ability. What do you think?

To tell you the truth, I am only mildly familiar with the Korean Wave actresses and dramas that have drawn so much attention in recent years, but Son Ye-jin is the reason that I am paying any of my own attention to Korean dramas and films at all. For the most part, Miss Son's features strike me as those of the perfect East Asian beauty. And I concur that her acting skills are solid and well-honed, thus validating the notion that she is not simply an alluring face being featured on movie posters to sell a few quick tickets. I've viewed a few of her works to date, and I've thoroughly enjoyed all of her performances as I feel that she played her dramatic and comedic roles competently. Above all, she stands out to me as by far the most aesthetically pleasing and certainly one of the most talented of all the actresses produced by the Land of the Morning Calm in the last decade or so. Some will dispute my characterization of her as the most beautiful or the prettiest of the "Hallyu" ladies, but opposing viewpoints have thus far left me unconvinced. I CAN watch films featuring other actresses from the ROK, but I MUST watch films and dramas in which Miss Son plays the female lead. That's the diff in my head. I'm down with SYJ (yeah you know me!).
sharei'm agree that she's one of korean finest beauty, but not her acting. her roles are quite monotonous on most her movies, although i like her movies, 'classic' and 'moment to remember' a lot, 'c.f.l' and 'a.s' are quite disappointing.
you should check kang hye jong, im soo jeong,, they're young actress with big talent. (in my opinion)
I think I was a little bit carried away when I made the original posting. But I still think SYJ is one of the finest actresses(acting-wise) in Korea right now. "Crazy First Love" is probably her worst movie, not because of her acting but because of Cha Tae-hyeon's unbearable antics. As for "April Snow," I agree with some movie critics say that she gave a fine performance in it and that it is SYJ, not BYJ, who carries the film.
As for Kang Hye-jung, I only saw her in "Oldboy" and so I would reserve judgment. I liked Im Soo-jeong's performace in "A Tale of Two Sisters" but need to see her other movies.
