I Hate Jo In-seong!

He played Sang-min, the girl's present boyfriend, in the movie.

He's so bland, boring... why do all the girls want him?! He looks like a walking, talking brick wall. His performance was horrible! He killed the movie for me! The soundtrack and the lead actress saved it!

Also, why would the lead actress want to be with a guy that hits girls? He's slapping girls back and forth in this movie. What makes her think that he wouldn't slap her too if she got out of line!? This guy sucks!

I still think it's misogynistic to hit a girl. No matter how you cut it.

reply

You can say that now but if you've actually been slapped by a woman you'll most likely sing a different tune.

reply

I've been slapped by a woman before. And punched. I didn't punch or slap her back. That's what a real man is all about. The strength to hold back on hitting something as fragile as a woman. Seriously, you've got problems if you're going around hitting girls as retaliation. Friggin' wife beaters.

reply

I think you're the one with problems if you go around getting slapped and punched by women.

reply

yeah...i didnt see any chemistry there...or much of a fight for him either

reply

Queen Kimbo,

Thanks for having sense unlike the other pricks.

reply

i agree... his acting was horrible, i cringed with embarassment for him...
however, nowadays he is becoming a good actor, he is not as awkward...and the only things that saved the movie was Jo Seung Woo, the soundtrack, and the plot

reply

I shall never forgive him for this role! Absolutely absurd acting!

reply

i think it was part of his role to be like that. if you saw him in "bali", he's not like that.

reply

yes, he is very different in Whathappened in Bali...he is sooooo excellent there...

Over 100000 IMDb users says that "popeinnocentyears" is a jackass....

reply

I don't think they did that scene to make him look like a bad person that hits girls. It was just supposed to be a funny scene because the sound of them slapping each other unintentionally started a slow clap in the crowd who was just sitting their confused as to what happened during the play.

reply

The scene was meant to be comical...
The part where the audience mistakes their facial slaps for applause should have hinted it.

reply

Jo In-seong is not in the caliber of Son Ye-jin acting-wise.They lacked chemistry in the film, sad to say.

reply

Males are brought up not to hit females. Females are not. That gives girls the idea that they can hit males and get away with it -- if he treats her as an equal by returning the "favor," she screams bloody murder -- which is SEXIST.

Even though the lie is that only MALES can be sexist.

The solution is real simple: if one doesn't want to be hit by others (male or female), then don't hit others.

I don't think he was bad. His character was a mystery, we don't know his connection to the family until the very end when he cries.

When you're playing a modern guy, as opposed to a more chivalrous type of fellow from 1968, you have to make the guy believable for 2003. Making him the same type of person as the father would have been a tip off about an important plot point. The actor built his character slowly. We don't really warm to him for quite awhile, until the scene in the rain.

Jo InSeong has grown quite a bit as an actor. In 'A Frozen Flower' he does a decent, if not amazing job; but that movie really belongs to Joo JinMo anyway. In my opinion JIS turned in a very good performance as a man who is not necessarily evil, but who is resigned to his evil destiny and tries to live it 'well', if that makes sense, in 'A Dirty Carnival'. If you haven't seen that movie, I recommend it highly.

reply

What are you guys talking about???????? I'm not Korean so i don't have any prior knowledge for the guy at all nor his "popularity" or whatever, but he is a very solid actor indeed!!

Have you seen "A dirty carnival"?? "A Frozen flower" ??? The guy gave an AWSOME performance in both these movies!!

As for this one?......his role was SO amall and under developed he had no room to move!!Even his dialog was tiny!! But EVEN under these circumstances, in the final scene when he cries before giving her the necklace......dude was he good!!!!!
