Why was this better than a Hollywood love story?

Please Continue my list

********************************************************"*****************
1. Beautiful woman in the lead (Jessica Parker, Julia Roberts...... NOT PRETTY

2. Sweet story that is not KORNY. (Meg Ryan on top of Empire State = Korny)

3. Real people in real situations. "Can Once In A Lifetime Happen Twice" - that is the tagline from Serendipity. John Cusack is more like a ghost not a person. He bumps into women he knew when he was 11, 12, 13, 14 years old in years 91,92,93.. get my point?

any more witty comparisons? Feel free to bash hollywood and praise Korean cinema

4. virtually unknown actors (to us westerners anyway), we know all the big hollywood stars...so the fat that we've never seen these actors/actresses before makes it seem a bit more realistic and "normal".

5. I'm not totally up on korean culture, but I like to think that it has something sweet to do with the story. Like, the tradition of arranged meetings and marriages ( Ji-hae and Tae-su), made the story a bit more heartbreaking because of the odds that were facing the the mother and her lover from the parents etc.

6) i think it has a sort of innocence to it that hollywood can't make. in almost all korean movies, the most you get is a kiss and barely one at that (a kiss on the cheek, a hug, etc) where as hollywood movies, you have a huge makeout scene or a love scene. i have no problem with either types but i think the korean movies have that cute child-like crush sense to it that hollywood movies cant portray.

The Classic is a lot better than The Notebook,A Walk To Remember and Titanic combined!!!!

7)There are no nudity scenes to show how much two people are in love compared to Hollywood romantic movies wherein a sex scene is somewhat always a requisite.

8) The cliches, tedium and sap were all brought to us in Korean.
