Hmmm. I think it is a little late to get out of pornos if he wants to protect his son because the market is simply flooded with them anyway.

I found out recently he was in Romance and to be honest, I just don't remember him from the movie so I wondered whether he was just in one of the sex scenes. I remember the sex but not the participants per se.

Then I noticed he was also in Anatomy of Hell but being somewhat familiar with the director I thought again he might just be there for the authenticity of the sex scenes. Judging from the quote you have provided me, that seems to be the case.

honestly, i think that his acting performance was better than those of tom cruz.
the reason why i use tom cruz as a comparison is because both rocco and tom try a little too hard with their strained intensity.
i mean the scene where rocco is crying is a little more believable than tom cruz in top gun.
personally i don't like the film, but in terms of it being a cross over film for rocco, i think he made a good choice.

Another great actor that can do quiet menace and intensity, Christopher Walken.

His performance was OK considering it was a much more demanding role than his brief appearance in ROMANCE. However, his French is absolutely atrocious and cringe-inducing to the degree where it sabotaged his performance. They should have dubbed his dialogue with someone else but from what Breillant has said she's somehow in love with his voice so I bet that was never an option.

Regardsless, it'll be interesting to see if he can make more "normal" movies. I don't think he'll ever get work outside of European arthouse/porn hybrids. I certainly can't see him getting offers from Hollywood all of a sudden. They'd be too scared of his hardcore past and the bad press that would entail.

I hate to expose my ignorance, but could you tell me how his "equipment", as you put it, reveals something about his ethnicity/nationality. It's a new one to me.

pornography isnt exactly easy, it is preforming/acting. i think it would be hard to put yourself out there like that, exposing the hidden parts of ourselves physically and emotionally. give the guy some credit

He's one of the two main characters, and he does actually act. I thought he did a good job with the acting, though his French was awful. Had he played the same role, but spoken in his native Italian, I think he would have been awesome.

Agreed; it was great to see what the man can do when he has to concentrate on the character he's playing instead of the sex, and see him expand his horizons. Unfortunately, I don't think he'll ever be a full-time mainstream actor; I don't think any pornstar has every been able to make that transition.
I wonder what Rocco himself would prefer: Would he want to be a "regular" actor given the choice, or would he choose to stick with porn?

I wouldn't get too excited about Rocco's acting. Essentially, his character is a morose bisexual misogynist who speaks in a monotone and moves in slow motion. Not the most challenging material.

EXCELLENT point about John Leslie. That man has/had tremendous charisma and a dominant sexiness (without being brutal, like Rocco or Jamie Gillis). Another guy who rules in the porn world, but who would be excellent in mainstream cross-over (and it's been his dream for years) is -- don't laugh now -- Ron Jeremy. Very intelligent, funny, soft-hearted, and once quite studly.

Another film with good performances by former porn actors: Baise moi, also a French one.
