Scene Where Chet Came In?

When Chet and his date came into the restaurant and the hostess said Dean would be their server, did anyone find Dean's reaction curious?

If you'll remember this is before he knew it was Chet, and almost everyone else had gone to the party. Dean looked like he was cleaning under the tables when he heard he would be their server. He pumped his arm and I believe went "yes!"

My question is was this supposed to be a sarcastic kind of reaction on his part, or was he genuinely happy to serve one last customer?

Given everything that happened in the film at that point I thought it was the former, but watching it last night again made me think he was really happy to get the last customer of the evening for some reason.

Thoughts?

He didn't pump his arm to say 'yes'. If you look closely, you'll see he was giving the host the middle finger for seating guests so close to closing time.

No, he had sort of a "dammit" reaction. Me as a delivery driver I get the same type of reaction when someone orders five minutes before close. One person ordering that close to closing time keeps you over another half hour and it really sucks.

Plus, Chet was one of the last people in the world Dean wanted to run into at that time after Dean's mom had pointed out how well Chet was doing.

Who the hell names their little monster Chet?
