GREAT movie for anyone who has ever worked in a kitchen

They did a great job of showing how it is working in a kitchen. Granted, a lot of the stuff in this movie is widely exaggerated, it's still a great movie for anyone whos worked in a kitchen setting.

I tell my friends and family that never worked in restaurants how realistic this movie is, and no one believes me, lol.

Is this some sort of funhouse... "Why, having fun?"

they make it look fun, is that accurate?

I worked in a couple of different places back in the 80's and while some of the personalities were obviously exaggerated I can point to each one and name a former coworker. I'm not saying which one I was though!!

We didn't have an ongoing game as portrayed but there was always some sort of competition going on.

Even after all these years I still try to be kind, respectful and tip well (within reason) to anyone serving me, family and friends. Not only do I remember what a thankless, low paying, HARD and disgusting job it was but I am fully aware of what happens to your food! LOL! I never actually participated in that but never stopped or reported it either.

Just remember, no matter how nice, wonderful or 'high end' the restaurant is, in the kitchen you will usually find low wage workers just trying to get through another day. While that does not excuse ruining your food, you treating them badly means you reep what you sow.

Exactly. What goes around comes around. I always try to remember that theres people in the back busting ass to get things moving and they deserve some love too. I absolutely hate people that come into these places acting like they own the place and get off on bossing people around.

Sorry Brother.

The scene with the chefs going crazy when Chet comes in at the end because they are all trying to get home is one that cracks me up. Watching that clock with your cleaning stuff ready to just throw everything in to the sinks and then an order comes in with minutes to go...

Yeah, they did that scene perfectly, on more than one occasion I have launched a wad of mashed potato at someone for handing me an order minutes before the restaurant was due to close for the night.

Ya Kirk-loving Spocksucker!
