Have Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer's real life antics made it harder to revisit this movie?

I mean, in the case for Kevin Spacey, let's just say that he makes Lex Luthor look like Clark Kent in comparison!

Well, if I'm recalling this correctly didn't Kevin Spacey sneak up on Superman from the rear in this movie and thrust his stiff weapon right into him, causing Superman to scream out in pain?

It was hard viewing even back then...

reply

In reality he was raping Superman, making him squeal like a pig.

reply

Actually I think the bad script is what makes it harder to revisit this movie.

I would say that this is pretty much fair game now (given what we have since heard about Bryan Singer) to discuss this:

Superman Returns. Bryan Singer's drug use was so bad that the studio took the film from him and the editor re cut it, causing the film to have pacing problems and scenes mixed up.

R45, coke mostly, but other stimulants too. It didn't help that the two writers he hired were both twinks who he partied with. And Spacey got involved too. The whole shoot was a clusterfuck. It amazes me that the film turned out as well as it did, all things considered. It's certainly better than the Zach Snyder shitfests.

I concur.

reply

No, I think I could still watch the film without that in my mind.

I do sorta wonder what Brandon Routh had to do to get the part.

reply

He probably makes Otis squeal like a pig.

reply

Not really, no

it is certainly creepy that two accused rapists worked on this movie and referred to eachother as "dear friends"

reply

No, Kevin Spacey is the only reason to revisit this movie.

Oh he sucked. I’m so tired of WB making Luthor comedy relief. 🤨

reply

Did you see the scene where he stabbed Superman in the back? That's quite a heavy comedy...

reply

Didn’t make up for his being a wimp. Luthor is intimidating and physically dangerous in the comics.

Mark Strong already played two DC villains so he’s out, but he would have been perfect. They need someone like him.
