With more modern materials and colors. Routh's suit hardly looked imposing, his neckline was too tight, his cape was too round his neck and hardly went over his shoulders, \S/ was too small, boots need to be a little longer just below the knee.
Agreed. The costume in Superman Returns was not at all flattering to Routh's physique(I heard he worked out for the role but that suit, you can't really tell). I didn't like the muted red coloring either.
When there's no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.
Guessing Bryan Singer is not an authority of cool costumes just leave to the costume designers. Reeve, Cain and the Superboy guys have shoulder loops on their capes that go under their armpits and have the tunic go over, or could've used a raglan sleeve design like Tyler Hoechlin(probably not). Could've had the \S/ be inked like TV Supergirl so it would be flatter and flexible.
If it was meant to be be like a loose sequel make their Superman like Christopher Reeve. Keep the proportions but update the materials and colors. Make his neckline square and wide so his cape goes over his shoulders to make him look imposing.
Yeah it looked too much like a swimsuit which is what most superhero movies try not to have. It looks like it was made by Calvin Kline especially with the trunks.
The suit was quite ugly, the jump suit constricted Brandon and was not suited to fit his body well. The cape looked like a shower curtain and his trunks looked like low rise panties.
