Why didn't the hospital staff put Superman out in the sunlight?

I guess the hospital staff weren't into the comics.

Superman told Lois (and by extension, the world) a lot about himself during the "I Spent The Night with Superman" interview. However, the fact that his power stemmed from sunlight was not one of them; hence, they had no idea.
