ruined it. It felt like an after school cartoon.

Isn't that the case with most of the straight to video sequels from Disney?

reply

Indeed it is. Unfortuently Disney believes that quantity is better than quality. If they would just stop it with these 'straight to video' releases sequels and focused on more original movies they would be doing even better. However, some of the sequels they make are good. Like Lion King 2 I liked that. Not nearly as good as the first of course. Hopefully Stitch! The Movie will turn out better than I think it will... Lilo and Stitch is one of my favorite movies and I hope they don't ruin it.

reply

Actually you guys are all wrong. Some of the Disney Sequals are good. Maybe not the best but they are good. Little Mermaid 2, Lady and the Tramp 2, 101 Dalmations 2, Inspector Gadget 2 (wasn't the best but didn't lose that much magic), and Lion King 2. And Stitch! The movie isn't a sequal per say, it's more of a spin off, you could say. But I just saw Stitch! The Movie and it was great, didn't lose a swig of the Disney Magic, especially since the cast returned. And when the cast returns that makes the movie a whole lot better. Little Mermaid 2 had most of the returning cast and it did great, and same with The Lion King 2 (James Earl Jones had enough faith for the movie that he came back and only said about 4 lines. but he still came back) So you can't judge all the straight-to-video sequals by just seeing a commercial or something. Think about that next time.

I totally agree with that, GoOfYsRiDe777!

I I thought Stitch! was funny! Also, I liked those other movies that you mentioned. As well as An Extremely Goofy Moive, kind of a follow-up movie to A Goofy Movie.

I didn;t have high expectations for this movie, because the commercials didn'tlook to promising. I decided to rent it, and the same cast was back and the animation wasn't as trashy as some of the sequels. The character art isn't as good as the 1st one, but the rest of the animation is great.

reply

how could you NOT love it? granted theres the possibility that it will
turn into a Pokemon marketing ploy... but the movie on its own merits
kicked serious butt! the humor was reminicent (sp?) of monty python.
the villain Hamsterviel and his napolean complex kept me in ..um.. stitches.
none of the characters were flat and the story line at least to me, was
highly entertaining for a cartoon. id give it an easy 8 out of 10.

I didn't like it. I hadn't seen any trailers for it or anything but it was a huge let down for me. The script for the most part wasn't funny (especially compared to L&S) The first half of the movie got a few more laughs out of me but even then I think I was trying to laugh because I was disappointed. There was a lack of any good soundtrack, I got a kick out of those traditional hawaiian songs which we got none of.The animation in some areas was really really bad, it just made me cringe. And it was very short, just over an hour.

As a whole I think I had my expectations much too high and was hoping fora lot, but it really didn't deliver. I personally didn't enjoy this movie much at all. I think they just rushed it too much *sighs* It had such potential.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was reminded of pokemon..... its creepy!

reply

Yeah, that was what I thought about as I was doing the "Extra Features" part of the DVD. When Pokemon came out, I thought "what genius in the marketing ploy! 'Gotta catch 'em all!'"

I like many Disney flicks, but let's fact it, these films aren't exactly originals. Except Lilo & Stitch; I loved L&S and thought it was really original. Unfortunately with Stitch The Movie, you've got a 60 min commercial setting up the fall cartoon series, and I'm sure a wannabe Pokemon invasion of "We've gotta find them all!"

Despite the commercialism of Stitch the Movie, I actually enjoyed it. And it was definitely better than most Disney sequels/follow-up flicks.

Walt Disney decreed that none of his companies films will be sequeled in theatre, Now this rule has been broken occasionally (Toy story, and peter pan 2) howecer they try to stick to the rule, thusly the Direc to video's are done by buena vista as they are in charge of doing the series. If you ask me the best thing to come out of Buena was Gargoyles, if you watch the first few minutes and the ink seems dull and poor quality then it's Buena.

Jumba: You are shorter than I remember, but you still twitch your nose like gerbal.
Hamsterveil: HAMSTER! I am not Gerbil-like, I am HAMSTER-LIKE!

Same here, bozohitler321!

Oh, and 625, "I just got a great deal on balogna!" "Ham or tuna?" "Grilled cheese" (when Sparky surged Gantu's ship) "I only have cheese! Don't you ever listen?" HE'S SO FUNNY! I forgot about that part in the synopsis that said he was lazier than Stitch but makes great sandwiches, but what supprised Hamsterveil and Gantu didn't suprise me because I just KNEW something funny was going to happen! 625 is the most hideously pathetic character that I have ever had the misfortune to watch. As a one-time passing reference from Jumba about how he made an experiment that made sandwhiches, the idea might have been slightly amusing, but using the thing as a major character? Bad idea, Disney.

You wouldn't have these problems if you used a Mac.

reply

625, to me, would have been a good character if they had focused on how lazy he was, and how, over time he slowly develops into a more pro-active character. Rather than just being a layabout from this movie to the next.

I am Glad some of you have chosen to engoy this movie for what it is, a childs cartoon caper aimed at those who are in primary school, but for those who choose to dislike this movie, KEEP YOUR VIEWS TO YOURSELF. you are not the target audience for this movie so of course you are not likely going to like it. children dont give a damn whos in it or how well it is drawn, its just bright colours funny characters and jokes mostly only kids can apreciate.

Hamsterviel's insults resemble those of the French taunter played by John Cleese in Monty Python & the Holy Grail.

You insult the movie before you even watch it!? Tell me how lame you are! Tell me!

625: You know, there's no right answer to that. I'd say around the "S"s, between "shockingly lame" and "stunningly lame".

HA! HA! I love that quote.
