When they get out of the house and hear on the radio that 5 states are without power when the car drives past a field and we see some hills, why does scary music play? Why is that? And why are 5 states without power?

Perhaps it could be a TV-series. But its possible it never would come to fruition due to all the other "alien invasion" movies/series that are out there now.
