Stuck in a Computer Game

Rabbits. to me seemed like this computer game, any FPS or RPG game. You are stuck. You can't seem to find the door to the next level, or the next area in the map. You are stuck in a room, trying to find a way to go to the next level. And you have 3 characters there with you. They move on about around you... pre programmed... walk from here to there and from there to here.. each character reading lines which have the same underlying theme, but in fact they aren't communicating with each other... Another thing i noticed was that the audio.. in games usually when you travel between sequences.. the audio playing in the back ground for rabbits remains the same.. and it feels so much like you're in a computer game... feels like you've been stuck at the same point for a long time... and the things they speak about are clues to the next level... and i feel if it were a game.. you would encounter these characters once again at some point in the game.

far fetched = lynchianism :)

You put it into words man. There's something same as in Cronenbergs eXistenZ. Just imagine what Lynch could do if he designed a real computer game...

I really like your theory! This is one of the better theories ive heard on rabbits for a while, since you analyze it through the FEELING you get when watching it. Most people tend to sovle it like it a rebus...
good work :D

David Lynch designed Rabbits to be ambiguous so that each individual will interpret the show differently. However I do agree with the majority of people on IMDB that it is essentially a parody of shallow poorly written modern sitcoms like Freinds. I think Lynch would be more likely to attack mind-numbing moronic television than video games because he is obviously such an enthusiast of intelligent, well-written drama (except On The Air). Your theory is interesting and original though.
