I finally saw it!!!!!

I bought the DVD from Amazon( I'm in the US, San Francisco) and I watched it last weekend. I really enjoyed Emma Lung's performance and Hugo was sexy as hell ( okay, not quite as sexy as he was in V, but for a film where one can see his face.....) I liked Emma Lung as Steph because although her character was supposed to be young and attractive, the actress and the director made sure she didn't come across as some over-sexed, trampy teenager whom the audience is supposed to believe is magically better looking and has more charisma than any other woman who ever has walked the earth, which tends to be how most starlets in American films are portrayed. She was realistic, and I could relate to her on many different levels, and I think other smart women of all ages will as well. I hope she has a long career in film.

I don't want to go into a long review here, that's not my style. I merely wanted to share how much I enjoyed this film. It's a great film for a quiet night at home when you want something interesting that isn't too depressing, pretentious, or a big-budget Hollywood film.

Enjoy.

Finally saw it too, I was a little reluctant because I don't generally like movies where 18 year old girls have affairs with middle aged men, but this was not some Hollywood fantasy with a little Lolita, there were realistic reasons for why the people behaved the way they did. Excellent acting. Emma Lung especially was amazing. Since I haven't had the opportunity to visit Australia I enjoyed looking at the scenery and watching the customs at the factory and the town, always like to see how other people live. The scenery is beautiful. I do have one small question for an Australian, though - the road has a sign that says "Black Spot" or "Black Dot" - can't remember which. This was at a part of the highway where there had been a fatal car crash. Is this sign used to indicate where someone died in a crash, or does it signify bad road conditions that might lead to a crash, or am I completely off base and this has nothing to do with car wrecks? Just curious.

Black spots indicate areas prone to accidents. They're everywhere in New South Wales! Reeeeeeally bad roads, thus our higher death toll around Christmas.

... that, or we just don't know how to drive properly.

ain't afraid to cry, sometimes it feels just good enough to feel something

Thanks, I knew someone would help me out!

I don't think bad roads or bad driving are limited to New South Wales. I live in a southern US city with lots of hills, ridges, and a big river right up the middle and we joke about how if it rains we can't manage (as a city) to make it to work in the morning without a handful of us having fender benders on the bridges. We temporarily lose our minds or something.

You're fortunate to live where you do, half the time I was watching this movie I was distracted by the beautiful scenery.
