He hasn't dropped off the face of the planet, but his resume since The Cat Returns is rather slim. I know he's done a few things as a key animator and co-director, but at the time Cat was released he was considered a leading light of the next generation at Ghibli. Anyone know what happened?

I loved The Cat Returns! I found it to be very funny and a crazy adventure! I give it a 9 actually.
But I can see people who have little imagination giving it an average review - not that there is anything wrong with lacking imagination at all. In fact, imagination may be something people use as a defense mechanism from the problems in their life?
