Im just wondering if anyone could help me to get past that warg rider and when its the best time to attack because everytime I go near him the wolf thing picks my character up and bites them.

hmmm. just beat that level yesterday. only got the game for christmas. follow him around but not too close. avoid him when he charges. when he stands up on his hind legs slash mercilessly while he's standing up and for a couple of seconds after he goes back down. eventually you will kill him. try using a restore health cheat to help you.
hold R1 + R2 + L1 + L2 all at the same time. then press triangle, then down, then X, then up
I'm sure you whooped its furry behind by now but for future players follow the advice of rushing in and striking twice when it rears up on its hind legs. Plus I've found that when you stand in the water the beast can't hurt you when it charges, you can only be hurt by arrows while in the water...happy hunting!
