The Basset hound in this and Ein in Bebop are both awesome, I thought the dog in GITS2 when it put it's head on the couch was very well done. They must've spent a hell of a long time watching a dog to get that down.

The director has basset hounds of his own; he features basset hounds in a couple of other movies as well - Avalon (2001) for instance.
