Poetry of melancholy
The mis-en-scene, the lighting, the actors all work to convey a
sadness that is intense but also has some strange beauty. Some say that a movie emotion is a weak shadow of a real emotion but this film
effects you more like poetry or other written stories. It's a kind of brooding melancholy that's present in most of the scenes despite the some of the cliches(shows Sibel on a merry go round at the height of happiness) or the near over the top acting on the part of main actor.
I can't quite put my finger on what makes this film work.
