Jack + Pastor Almost Identical ?

I just saw and enjoyed Christmas Child on Lifetime last night. I was astounded to see the pastor and the main character are almost the same height, with the same build, same hair color, almost identical faces, similar voice range. Yet the fact was not mentioned by anyone in the movie.

I was starting to suspect that the two characters were supposed to be related to one another, yet that never materialized (did it?). I wondered if the same actor played both roles.

Anyone else notice that similarity between the two?

reply

yes I noticed it too and was waiting to see if Maybe they were brothers. I was lookingto see if the sheriff was going to say he was Jacks dad and that was why he didn't seem to like him. the whole town acted strange IMO

reply

Yes! I thought they were going to be long lost twins, and the whole town already knew it, they looked SOOO much alike. Terrible casting. You can't have two nearly identical actors in a story where one has been adopted and is looking for his birth family.

anything is possiable

Steven Curtis Chapman (i.e. pastor curtis) is a famous christian singer / songwriter. That probably explains his role in this film written by a christian author (Max Lucado). I did notice the resemblance as well but I did not think it had anything to do with the storyline. I just knew the connection christian singer / author connection.

reply

but that doesn't make it right.

reply

How could you tell from an old black and white photograph if the Pastor had the same hair color?

reply

Not the old dead pastor, the living young one who played the guitar.

reply

I did recognize Stephen Curtis Chapman right away, but I do think they should have picked someone a little different looking for the pastor. The whole time I thought they would be long lost brothers or something. Maybe they were using this as a red herring to throw us off.

reply

I would say Jack is about 2-3"'s taller at least.

Can you fly this plane?
Surely you can't be serious.
I am serious, and don't call me Shirley

reply

Of course! the second I saw him I assumed they were brothers and that would ultimately be revealed. The fact that it didn't happen is the height of stupidity. If it wasn't in the script, as soon as they made the casting they should have either changed the script or the casting or gave one of them a different haircut and dyed his hair. So irritating. And what on earth was up with that sherriff? Was he really just jealous because the waitress was flirting with Jack? And why did the lady in the church have a strange accent like Ottelman? Are they related?

reply

This movie is shown every year, but this is the first time I am actually watching. I, too, agree, they sound similar and look alike. I have had a secret actor's crush on William R. Moses since his Falcon Crest days, so to me, he is usually the most enticing man on screen in any production he's in. It was strange to see a look-alike, but I decided they just wanted to double the pleasure of us ladies who love Mr. Moses. ;-)

I do think though that, since the plot did not involve the two being relatives, they should have colored the minister's hair.
