Possibly the worst animation ever

It literally looked like it was animated by a preteen summer art school class. Hell, it was barely even animated, half of it looked rendered by some stupid adobe program on a PC. I'm not going to attack the story, since it was relatively harmless (except for "Betcha Never" playing three times... uuuurrggh) or the voice performances (except for the horrible recasting and Bane's "NOOOOOO-ooooooo"), but in terms of animation it has to be one of the worst jobs ever done in a "finished" project. It could not possibly have looked worse or more rushed if they had tried.

Couldn't agree more. Worst animation ever. And I thought The New Batman Adventures had bad animation!
That was Batman:TAS compared to this. This movie was just horrible beyond belief. I can't even believe they released this garbage.
It was like a bad TV special or something.
You're right about everything looking like it was made on some computer program.
The whole movie looked ridiculously lazy on a cosmic level.

I actually thought everything was sloppy though - from the bland story and screenplay to the uninspired music - but the animation was just insulting. Especially Bruce's design. It was laughably bad and surprisingly even more awkward than how it was in The New Batman Adventures.

Not to mention everytime the Penguin talked I just thought of Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast.

The 'Betcha Never' song felt completely out of place.
I mean it's a Batman movie for goodness sake.

So dissapointing.

watched this today as I bought it on dvd for my 3 and 4 year old boys who sit rooted to every episode of TAS.
They also sat glued to mask of the phantasm and under the red hood.
This was so amazingly dull with horrible music, too many characters and simply not enough action. My boys actually got up and started playing half way through which is a first!
Also why did Kevin Conroy change his Bruce and batman voice for this, it was as if someone else had done it, very annoying.

I like Bane's voice. Different actors did Bane in the series and this one was my favorite. Agree about the others. I wish they did not recast Paul Williams as Penguin. He was always Penguin up until this movie.

reply

Yeah, The Penguin's new voice didn't do it for me.
