one thing that irritates me about the awards now......

.....is that they dont show clips of the actors in the movies. I remember a few years back that after they would announce each nominee, they would show a little clip, no longer than say 25 or 30 seconds. I am really disappointed that they got rid of this. It made the awards so much more magical! Instead of wasting time getting famous people up on the stage and patting themselves on the back, the Academy should reinstate this. It made the oscars so much better for me. anyone else think this way?

YOU ARE COMPLETELY RIGHT. The clips are important and they make the show all more interesting.

I think it was a one-time event... in 2004 they put the clips back in!

I'm glad the clips are back in. I can compare the performances that I have seen wiht those that I have not. I can also see a scene again.

Yeah, I remember watching that show and saying to myself, "I thought they had clips". Also, I hadn't seen Chicago, everyone was crazy about CZJ, so I wanted a clip. What were they thinking that year? I'm glad they put them back in, though. That's the best part of the show, aside from occasional great speeches.

Since it was the 75th Oscars, instead of showing clips of the nominees' performances, they instead opted for a quick montage of all of the acting winners in that category in the past. Since producer Gil Cates wanted a show under 3 1/2 hours, which he got by a minute, the film clips were axed.
