There was an Oscars's Great Moments on Vhs that was done about 10 years ago covering from 1970-1990. It includes the Marlon Brando acceptance and many other outrageous things (like the streaker). You might be able to find it used.

IMPORTANT:

Does anyone have a video of the 2003 75th Academy Awards show I could borrow. I accidentally erased it. I have the highlights of every year since 1991 of which I'm converting to DVD. I can offer that or whatever, just to borrow it.

If anyone has that or any leads, please email me. [email protected]

What are you, a masochist? Seriously, doubt it ever will be put out on dvd.

Why? I personally would like to have some of them in my collection - especially those from the the 30's, the 40's and the 90's. I wonder if I can go to the library of the Academy and get copies there...

Hi,

i should have made it clear that i was talking about this year's show. i thought it was very boring, and while JS had a few good jokes, there was a total lack of energy. He seemed bored. i thought he was an odd choice for host when i first heard it announced.

i agree with you about older shows. i'd be interested in seeing the vintage ones you mention. i remember laughing so much when i was a kid and Billy Crystal hosted. Even when i didn't get some of the jokes, just his face was funny. He'd raise an eyebrow and give that cute smile.

Hello. :)

I agree with you about this year's show. I didn't liked it as much as some of the previous. And I also think Jon Stewart was not as good as he should have been. Billy was awesome, Whoopi and Steve Martin too. Why didn't they bring one of them back? Go figure...

reply

Probably the others are busy or just don't want it. Maybe the producers feel Jon will appeal to a younger audience. I like him a lot, just don't think this was his forte. But it wasn't just him, the whole show seemed lacklustre to me. My friends and i were just bored.

But the end was sure a big surprise.

Yep. :)

'Boring' is the word that comes to my mind too when I think of this year's Oscars. With the exception of George Clooney and Meryl Streep & Lily Tomlin everyone were just... pale.

Well, I'm very close to have crush on him as well - he is marvellous. :P But seriously, I think he is this generations Clark Gable - the handsome talented king of Hollywood. Not that he's got a significant competition though...

He may be one of the few reasons for me to buy this year's ceremony if it ever gets out on DVD.

That would be so awesome! I doubt they would put all of it in a collection, but they might do something like somebody mentioned earlier and put highlights on it. Hey, if there were tapes made of weddings on ABC daytime soaps, I wouldn't rule this out as a possibility.

Sure would be nice if the academy released them but i doubt they will. I've gotten most of the ceremonies from the last 30 years from people online (some are more reliable than others, believe me!!!). That's probably the only way for collectors to see these "only aired once" programs.

I was wondering if anyone has a transscript of the awards show it self... there was a poem writen by alan bergman that halle berry told on there and I can't find it...having the transcrpit of that part would be awesome.
