The smartest anime series, but terrible 1st season opening (worst opening I've seen so far) and of course worst idea including russian songs (for what reason??).

Not a huge fan of GITS, but I find it alot better then most of the terrible J-pop that most animes open to.

Plus it's not a "Russian theme song." It takes words from at least four different languages (English, Russian, Japanese, and Latin are the ones I can recognize) and strings them together into semi-gibberish phrases. Yoko Kanno is known for that; in fact she's been doing it in her scores for anime series since the beginning of her career.
Although in your defense, ORIGA, the vocalist on the song, is Russian.
The opening theme that starts out with "I am a soldier....?"
shareYes, i agree, that opening song was rather ugly. Though i didn't recognise it as Russian, i skipped it anyway everytime.
sharePersoanlly, I loved both theme songs for the beginning, the first most of all, but the 2nd has its charms.

it's not russian. matter of fact, it's no language at all (as obscure pointed out above). it's gibberish, made to sound cool.
