Judge Mathis pays funeral expenses

On yesterday's show, Judge Mathis volunteered to pay for funeral expenses & braces for a 17 year old boy that hung himself. It came out that he was being bullied at school and may have had some other issues that prompted his suicide.

It was very touching and the boy's mom could hardly hold it together while telling the judge the story.

She was suing her ex-husband for half the cost of the funerals and the braces that he'd gotten shortly before he died.

The judge said how horrible the story was (at one point it looked like he might actually cry). Bottom line is he said "the judge", meaning himself would pay for both as the family had suffered enough.

By the time the show was over, my eyes had filled with tears.

It's things like this that make me like Judge Mathis.

I agree with you. I saw that episode and was very touched. Judge Mathis showed such kindness and depth. He is always offering help after the case for those who need it.

For some reason, he gets a bad rap from a lot of people (he's ghetto, he's a joker..., etc).

I find him to be very passionate. I don't always agree with his decisions, (but I don't always agree with Judge Judy's or Marilyn Milan's either). I just feel like he has a heart. Perhaps because he lived the circumstances of his life before straightening himself out, but I've often seen him show compassion in his court room and I respect him for that.

Any idea when new shows will start?
