Zamaanat is slated to release August 18, 2006

reply

Zamaanat hopefully (praying to god) that it will release, slated to hit theaters September 15, 2006

reply

zamaanat slated to release 0ctober 6, 2006

reply

Wasn't it scheduled to release sometime last (2005) September, as well? I'll believe it when I see it. Other than that, all I can say is, the film surely can't be good; how many examples can one give of such delayed projects that have been even mildly "OK"? (I'm pretty sure the answer to that rhetorical question is, "zero.")

reply

YO KONGKONG WHATS UP AGAIN! HOW HAVE U BEEN, YEAH I AGREE, I THINK MAYBE ONLY HUM TUMAHRE HAIN SANAM CAN BE CEREDITED AS OK/

reply

Finally, someone agrees with me. I thought "Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam" was fine, especially for a movie so delayed (something I didn't even know when I sat down to watch it), yet everyone seemed to pan it.

Just an update: It ("Zamaanat") was "officially" announced to be releasing in November of 2006, then December of 2006. Currently, it is 12:20 A.M., Thursday, January 4, 2006.

yes i totally agree. the only way "Zamaanat" will make enough money is if it releases straight to DVD. Director S. Ramanathan is very stupid. He has announced the release dates so many times. And the week before it is suppsoed to release, it gets pushed back three to four weeks. I am tired of waiting, seriously. If he keeps this up, people will eventually lose interest in "Zamaanat". Bachchan has "Eklavya" on February 16, 2007, and the next week he has "Nishabd" on FebruaRY 23, 2007. HE HAS "Cheeni Kum" put in March, but no release date yet, and "God Tussi Great Ho", and "Shootout At Lokhandwala" in April. He also has "RGV Ka Sholay" in May. The best bet for "Zamaanat" would to be release in March or April. Because as soon as May starts, the biggies will start coming in. And then the next possible date for "Zamaanat" would be September. Let's face it. The chances of "Zamaanat" being a hit - Slim to none

Very true. Infact "Insaniyat" was delayed as well. "Zamaanat", however, fortunately, has a good story line going for it, and has Amitabh in an action role, and drama role as well. He also has a romantic angle, Vijayashanti in the movie as well. This movie has Amitabh in all of his gusto. With "Eklavya" releasing February 16, and "Nishabd" a week later, on the February 23, "Zamaanat", hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, will release in March. Infact on indiafm last year on March 31, they said "Zamaanat" got a U censor, and was expected release shortly. Obviousbly not! (Let alone, hopefully "Zamaanat" releases this year). I'm sure in India there are pirated DVDs and VCDS already out. Infact I rented "Kudiyon Ki Hai Zamaana" like 2 weeks ago, even though the movie released this past Friday. The DVD even had chapters, and songs, and subtitle selections. The copy wasn't DVD great, but atleast looked better than pirated DVD copies, and looked like a VHS copy. Hopefully, somebody gets some brain and releases this movie. I dont know why the director is being weird. Why keep delaying your movie? I hate the way "Zamaanat" comes in the news for like two weeks then absolutely disappears. PLEASE GOD PUT SOME SENSE INTO S. RAMNATHAN. WHO MADE THAT GUY A DIRECTOR!?!??!

Definetly gotta agree with you on that one man, Jiah Khan seems like she will take over real soon.....

Well, let's face at least this: The chances that "Zamaanat" will be a hit are, not "slim to none," but... well, "none." Films that take this long in the making, and then are endlessly delayed in theor release for whatever reasons, just don't ever make it "big." OK, fine, it worked for "Pakeezah"... one exception. Looking at the trailers of "Zamaanat" (which, themselves, are rather poorly thrown together), the movie looks like it'll just be more of the "late '90s stuff" that didn't sell during the 1990s (even with Amitabh Bachchan), and I predict, thus, that it won't sell now. Really, I think only we few strong "Bachchan fans" are even aware of what the hell "Zamaanat" is, let alone awaiting its release. In my opinion, it won't matter (as far as financial success is concerned) when the film is released, so I'd rather they just release it now, so at least the few of us who care can watch it. We already know that there'll be scenes that don't make sense (Bachchan with beard in one flashback, sans in another), parts that are missing, and moments that were dated a few years after the movie should have hit theaters. Basically, we just want to see another Amitabh-Bachchan movie from the 1990s, because we already own "Mrityudaata" and "Kohram" on DVD (though the latter's really not too bad). So... yes, please, release it, already. :-/

i honestly could not have put it in better words, i wonder what the hell that director is waiting for, becuase if he is waiting for an open weekend, that is impossible, even though he had one this past Friday, January 19, 2007, since "Risk" didn't announce its reease on this date till last week. Since February is filled with releases, seems like Zamaanat could have a release is March or April, the funniest thing is that the movie takes forever to release, and once it releases, it will take like a week to be on DVD. im sure the VCD of Zamaanat are floating around somewhere in India

reply

I, too, was thinking that. Whenever these "sure-to-be-box-office-disaster" films finally hit theaters, their "official" DVD releases trail by about a week. So, no matter what, the movie's almost certainly not going to have a chance in cinemas.
