In an interview on the (I'm assuming) American DVD, Pen-ek says something about rewriting a scene for Nid so her actress could lighten up the set since everyone liked her. He talks about Kenji imagining himself suffocating her with a pillow and that idea influenced Chris Doyle and Pen-ek to do another scene with Nid. I don't remember this scene in the movie... I can only assume this idea evolved into the scene when Kenji dreams of Nid in Noi's place.

Does anyone have any info on this or can clear this up?

If I remember correctly, I think he was refering to showing how she died. And of course this was the car accident scene. I might be wrong, but that's what I assumed. It seems like a very important scene to sort of haphazardly throw in during shooting, but either way, it's good they did.
