Complete waste of time for non-romanians ;-)

As already mentioned in these threads, this movie is yet another lousy production in Snipe's series of low-budget-action-movie-wannabes like “7 Seconds” and “Marksman”.

If not a real candidate for the title of worst movie ever, at least it should be nominated (along with the other two noted above) for worst script title. What the heck?! Same level as x-rated movies!? :))

OK. So what's in it for the Romanian folks? A plain dumb (dumber?) comedy if you think of all the football (americans, read my lips: "soccer") related scenes/issues.

Bostanescu — the main negative character — owns a football arena ("Lia Manoliu") and a football team ("Uliii") which fights to qualify in the finals of the "World Football Championship" (which will take place in Washington DC).

No laughs yet? There's more.

Uliii are in fact Steaua Bucharest: the colors (red and blue), the arena (yes, all footage is done in fact on Ghencea Stadium), the fans (watch the names on their t-shirts), the in-game footage (Banel Nicolita, etc), etc, etc.

Ah, checkout the game scenes (near the end of the movie): the billboard says “ULI vs. DIN” and the gallery shouts "Hai Dinamo", so OK, let's say it's Steaua against Dinamo. Then why all the fans rushing out the gates are dressed like a Steaua against Rapid game? :))

If Uliii are in fact Steaua, Bostanescu == Gigi Becali? :))
As laughable as it seems, Bostanescu behaves/looks much like our "beloved" Becali. ;-)

OFC, all's just fantasy, but a very lousy one.

Update: dropped UTF8/Romanian chars, as IMDB doesn't seem to behave nicely to them. :(

I hate movies made in Romania, they allways suck ! I barely watched the hole film and it feels unpleasant hearing non-romanian actors screwing up with our language, not to mention hearing english swear words and their translation in romanian afterwards, that scene freaked me out.
"7 secconds" was way better but i liked some scenes like the car chace and explosions wich kind of wanted me to be there when they shot the movie... :)

You hate the films made in Romania? For what? Only because they are made in Romania? The script doesnt mean anything to you? The fact that YOUR american fellows act like **** doesn't mean anything to you?

Lmao come on, are you reading what you are writeing ?
Made in Romania ! that means a lot... and this script was like hundreds i've heard so far, lots of action, explosions, car chaces etc. to me that is just darn lame, i'm sick and tired of movies made for children in the one man army not-by-the-book hero wannabe style. And screw my american fellows they suck at romanain but it's not their fault, you'd probably suck at chinese too but this brings us back to my point why film in Romania with foreign actors haveing romanian roles ? Because low budget leads to cheap sets => Romania
I hate this phenomenon and I do believe that this movie is also a wate of time for romanians as well.
BTW I'm way past the stage of playing with toys, I advanced to criticism and shareing my thoughts with fellow tards like you ! And you're the one who needs to grow up if youre supporting this movie and others like it.

You actually think you past the toy player stage when yo say "Made in Romania ! that means a lot.." ? nope .. you still have to get through the tard stage than maybe .. and only MAYBE you might reach to actually think in your life ..

By the way, what other language beside stupid english do you know ? I bet you won`t do better than any romanian in foreign languages. Bah american incults.

Although I'm a romanian too, i agree that this was a complete waste of time. I didn't expect that Snipes to play that bad, and the rest the same. The script is also teribble and non believebel. But wich I hate most, is that in every american movie made by americans, the true and real Romania is never there. Besides the one action hero man, allmost all u see in the movie regarding romanians is not real, wich is weird since romanians were playing also. I thought that at least the romanians to give some clues about the real life in romania. Anyway, i can't sday that this is a bad movie becauze is wilmed in Romania, or to blame romanians for this. I saw great romanians movie wich are better than manny giant budgets american movies and here in RO, we can make good movies.

P.S. Escuze my language.

Don't remember any good romanian movie made after the '89 so-called Revolution.

And I need to add something to what altblue said, more like goofs. Supposedly the games take place on Lia Manoliu National Stadium (the single real fact that stands behind it, is the figure of 50.000 people attending), but instead the Ghencea Stadium (Steaua Bucharest home stadium) appears on all in-game takes.

And one more: in the movie, the teams is called "Ulii", but, on the exit rumble you can read on the back of one of the running supporters' shirt, "STEAUA". Let alone the names of present days Steaua team players.

BTW, anyone of you know about the Police using Cielo cars ? :D 'Cause I surely don't. :)

As a plus (probably the only one), I really like how Bogdan Uritescu (I only realized he was the one, just at the end credits) playes his character, Pavel, the mean, bald, always upset killer. If playing in foreign movies, he'd really hit it big.

Just got the movie "The Detonator", didn't see it yet, but I can say that not all movies filmed in Romania are bad. Cold Mountain is one example, but there are a few more. What I have to admit is that there is obviousley a different feeling when I watch a movie shot in Europe... It looks different on camera. Don't know what the difference is - if it's the equipment or just the people - but it is different in the sense of cinematics. Does anybody know why?

I got so bored I watched yet another repeat of CSI!

Such a shame snipes can play some great characters though he doesnt have the edge of Denzil washington
