Different voices?

I have for years been confused by the casting. It appers to be different voice casts cited in the credits on my DVD and here. On my DVD it says that Dough Rand has the voice of Beta as well as playing Arthur's father, but they sound TOTALY different. And Christian Erickson has the voice of Darkos, but here it says Jason Bateman. I don't know how I can find clips so I can her the difference. Also it says David Suchet is the narrator, but it doesn't sound like him at all. To me it's more likely that it's Archibald (Ron Crawford) doing the voice over narration. Oh, and there is a different voice actor for Miro (Harvey Keitel) but I don't remember the name.

That's what I remember now at least. But why is this? Why not have one English cast instead of mixing?
