Followed the recipe to a T. Turkey came out god awful. So did other recipes. Started watching America's Test Kitchen and wow what a difference. Sure it's simple and mundane but a much better experience. Good Eats would be akin to a home ec or intro kids to cooking type show.

I hate to say it, but the only person who can possibly be responsible for a turkey being god awful is the person cooking it.. Turkey is about the turkey, and good turkey comes from a well cooked turkey..

If you're talking about "Romancing the Bird", when he brines a turkey before roasting, that is a re-run of his show from November of 1999. America's Test Kitchen first aired in 2001. So who was ripping of whom?
