This is an EXCELLENT French film for American audiences. I highly recommend it for Americans interested in French films. Most French films are too subtle and highly symbolic for many Americans but "Apres Vous" is a plain comedy which anyone can enjoy. See it!

I agree! I don't really know why everyone is calling it "Americanized" either. It's just a great comedy with fantastic ensemble acting, great characters, perfect comedic timing and lovely -believable-romance and relationships. Universal qualities, but it still seemed pretty "French" to me. I've always favored foreign and independent films over Hollywood's film factory. Apres Vous might be a little easier to recommend to people who don't normally watch foreign films, but that's because it's so good, not because its more American.

I enjoyed the film as well. Had me entertained and laughing the whole time. I suppose it's not a typical French film; afterall, it has, horror upon horrors, resolution and clarity at the end. :P Not to mention, it's made purely for amusement--somewhat light & trite. But it was cast quite well (as someone above mentioned, they had great comedic timing) and wasn't painfully predictable as many romantic comedies nowadays end up being.

I enjoyed this movie very much. I watched it tonight and it's just such a wonderful movie. The beginning is a bit croaky, but the story turns out to be more and more attracting as the movie goes on.
I feel that I like french culture more and more each time after watching a French movie.
Well, hope there are other people who like this movie as much as I do.
And by the way, what are the other good French movies that you guys would suggest me to watch?

My all-time favorite French movie is Get Out Your Handkerchiefs (1977). It won the best foreign film oscar in 1978. It starts Gerard Depardieu and Patrick DeWaere. I would tell you the plot, but... it's too confusing in words. Rent it and enjoy!!!

I have just watched this movie and have been chuckling to myself and out loud all the way through. D.A. is such a great actor in comedies and also a great straight actor in thrillers and dramas. Cannot think of a bad film that he has been in. Yes, agree if you loved this, you will enjoy the closet which is hilarious too.
