April Fools Day???

I didn´t get the end of the film?
Wasthe film all just faked and played? Why did Christiane Kubrick said "It was great fun" and why did all of the persons who were interviewed had a text to tell???
Please help me, because I really don´t know what to believe and what not - because it was so realistic that I cannot believe that it´s not true.

reply

It's not true. Well, who knows, maybe the moon landing was fake, but this film is really all about how media can be used to fool people, not about the moon landing. Notice some of the lesser known people were played by actors, whose name appears at the end.

Jack Torrance (from The Shining)
David Bowman (from 2001: A Space Odyssey
Eve Kendall (from Hitchcock's North by Northwest)
Dimitri Muffley (in Dr. Strangelove, the Soviet's president's first name is Dimitri, the American president's last name is Muffley)
Marla Vargas (Ava Gardner's character in The Barefoot Comtessa is called Maria Vargas)
Ambrose Chapel (not exactly sure where this is from, but there's a St. Ambrose Chapel in New York)
W.A. Koenigsberg (a pun on Woody Allen (W.A.), whose real name is Allen Stewart Koenigsberg)

reply

"Ambrose Chapel" is the chapel from Hitchcock's "The man who knew too much" (1956).

reply

Ambrose Chapel comes from THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH from Hitchcock

reply

this is a fake documentary.
REad some of the correct user-comments (those who knew it is fake)

the problem was that tv-stations didnt always mention that this is indeed a fake documentary

It is fake - prbably because the french director is anti-american (his other "documentaries" surgest so).

The documentary is fake - that is a fact.

reply

Yeah. See, it's a mockumentary. You're supposed to know the whole time that it's not real. It was never meant to fool you. I pity you if you thought it was meant seriously.

Boy, you come right out with the arrogant bigotry. Can't you tell a joke when you see one?

reply

loleralacartelort7890, c'mon!

Your statement is either fake or just plain stupid. Off course the documentary is fake, but that isn't what matters. What does matter is that most people believe in it untill the end-credits show up. That is what this documentary really is about. This documentary is not about America nor the CIA nor Kubrick nor NASA and the moonlanding. It is about how easily people (the audience) can be fooled.

i don't think its just the end that gives it to you, i don't know how you can take it seriously after the islanders interviews the rest was so convincing but for me that was the eye opener. it started to get a bit silly after this, the director was probably showing how even the most rediculous ideas could be made to look convincing
