How do people get paid?

Robots seem to be everywhere and to be able to afford such an advanced robot, you probably need a well paid job. But it seems to me that most jobs are run by robots, exept for a few like the police. How do people make money? Spooners (Will Smiths character) grandma, seems to be a stay at home lady and even she has robots.

It is suggested that the robots cost a lot, due to the corporate owners greed on not cancelling the release of the unit. If he's giving them away for free, how does he get payed? Or is the welfare (spelling?) So good in the future that you don't need to work anymore but get pay checks from the government?

It's a good question! You'd need a form of basic income. Capitalism would require this (if nobody has money you can't sell anything) and would still work (a job means more luxury, innovation is still rewarded). But it does require wealth redistribution.

Many people often conjure the Luddite fallacy because in the past new technological enhancements have always mean new types of job. But artificial intelligence is different: The better AI gets the more jobs will be displaced because if a robot can do a job above a certain skill level, all human labour below that skill level will be worthless.

The only way this would be possible is if the world's population was so low (maybe whatever 'dired' the lakes killed a lot of people) ... This was one god damn fine utopia, tho V.I.K.I. Said we were still jerking each other off into the apocalypse

Oh I don't remember the ending. VIKI was about preventing humans to create an apocalypse?

still jerking each other off into the apocalypse

hahaha omg I wish VIKI had said that in the movie. I know robots have to sound all proper, but it'd be perfect.

This is a perfect example of what's going on now with McDonald's testing their "cashierless" restaurants concurrently with the push for $15.50 minimum wage. These are definitely interesting times.

Maybe the robots did the jobs for them. Maybe the robots were owned by people and the people sent them off to do their jobs for them. And the people get paid because robots don't need money, their masters do in order to maintain them. Slaves were paid for collecting cotton, not for selling cotton.

I like it. Makes sense.

Slaves were paid for collecting cotton, not for selling cotton.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure slaves were not paid.

She won it on the lottery.

It was also a most likely rigged lottery to get a spy on him.

Today you can get the government to GIVE you:
Housing (over 80% off rent,so close)
Food
Internet Access
Higher Education
Cell Phones
Access to Public Transportation
Health Care &
Welfare

If youre a lazy enough shitheel who contributes nothing but still expects everything, America is great for you. I would 100% expect helper robots to be government subsidized.

UBI perhaps.
