'Those were dumb films.' WTF ???

Ok,

Now I'm not even going to review this film. Instead I'd like you kind readers to give me
a moment of your time whilst I body-slam the dumb-ass Reviewer of this film.

Despite spouting and postering like he/she were a modern day Cineaste it is
obvious the Reviewer doesn't know his head from his you-know-what. Now whether
you, the Reader, personally like Antonioni or not is up to you. Some don't.
But to dismiss his seminal Sixties Trilogy of "La Ventura", "La Eclisse", and
(the lesser) "Il Desserto Russo" as- "Those were dumb films" shows this goof
is about on the level of the Poseur Wannabe in "Good Will Hunting" who gets
blown away by Will in the bar pick-up scene. You remember, one guy tries to
out-intellectualize another guy at a bar over a girl and has his hat handed
to him by Will who shows the guy up as a shallow sophomoric a-hole. Well,
that's about where we are with this reviewer I suspect.

He's full of artsie highbrow blather about the films he does like but dismisses
the ones he doesn't as "dumb films" without further comment. That is your 1st
clue. Mostly, I admit I'm pissed off that such important films of the Sixties
would be so cheaply dismissed by somebody who then goes on to praise the same
Director for work that NO ONE ELSE thinks is anywhere near his greatest. It's
like calling Bergman's "Seventh Seal" and "Virgin Spring" dumb 'cause it was
really "Saraband" that is his best work. Your opinion? Fine. But you're in a
lonely place buddy and your opinions have little support from established critics and
No cogent argument from yourself in the body of your review.

Does us all a favor: Edit your review and withdraw it. Then go back to your
Film 101 course and try again. You missed something the first time.

Off Soapbox Now,

Andrew
