She just didn't go to sleep and she stayed up all night. At what point does she forget? When she falls asleep?

I'm guessing they tried that and got confused while awake AND tired at the same time.

I've watched it again, the doctor says her brain is unable to convert short term memories into long term memories while she's asleep, so if she stays awake, she won't forget
