This is one of the best scandinavien movie's made lately. Try to get to see it if you can. This is a story that never been told to the world & the situation that was by the time of world war II. Good acting & well done. See it !!!!

*Good* acting? I'd argue that it was fantastic acting, particularly by the young actor playing the lead (and even the little girl is portrayed by a great child actor).

Just got back from a screening at the Seattle International Film Festival. I have seen very few films that engaged so much emotion. Very few people left before the credits finished rolling, and I could hear a lot of (sad) sniffles from the audience. One person commented that Eero's pain at returning to Finland wasn't well conveyed; I completely disagree, I found that scene to be extremely moving.

I do hope this comes out on DVD so that more people will be able to experience this great film.

I agree. Very touching movie with top of the line performances, beautiful photography with a sensitivity and simplicity that grabs you from the begining till the very end. Take note Hollywood. Sometimes "less is more".

I disagree, this kind of stories have been told again and again in different countries and different times.
Plus the story it's pure melodrama, the most common genre in whole the world.

I am not saying this is a bad movie, No. What I am saying is that at least the narrative style is quite common and stories like this (slightly different) have been shot before.

However a well acted, directed and photographed movie is always welcome.

I agree that this is a warm, touching film. One of the things that I found so endearing was that, along the way, each character shows us something surprising and real (except possibly the birth mother.) The grandfather's attempt to speak was a powerful indicator of the sadness felt by all.

I also was very impressed by the fine acting.

brilliant movie i wd say.....exceptionally powerful acting...coming from the land of bollywood which churns out mindless & useless 3 hour movies...i was literally moved to tears watching this simple yet powerful movie..

this movie brings out the side of each of the protagonists in a very unbiased way and we can feel for each of them...words fail me as i describe this movie...

i wish the world can sit up and take notice for movies like this which really is what a cinema should be all about....kudos...
