shareWithin the context of a child's wartime experience, consider John Boorman's HOPE AND GLORY (1987) and Louis Malle's AU REVOIR, LES ENFANTS (also 1987). Both are excellent films. Malle's film is perhaps a bit more closely related in that it concerns a kind of foster care (priests hiding Jewish children in their boarding school). It is also the best of the three. I'm presuming the reference to BLADE RUNNER is some kind of joke. I see no stylistic relationship whatsoever. It is, however, a terrific film.
