Alice's friend tells her NOT to come down after all. Yet we see her take the bus to Florida anyway.
Where was she going to stay?
Are we to assume her friend (offscreen) forgave her since she is no longer a fugitive?

Good question. I think it's meant to be kind of this unknown, "she'll either sink or swim" end we're supposed to take away from this. She has $750, which even back twelve years ago wasn't much, but many people go to a new city with less than that and no safety-net and make it.
If Alice was lucky enough to find a job ASAP, maybe she made it work. I can see her getting to couch it at her friend's if she was desperate enough. Would the friend truly renege on the offer, or would she let Alice crash for a while? The friend seemed to suck, but if Alice was truly homeless, maybe she'd let her stay there a bit.
